Wayback Weather · www.wweather.info · Updated October 22, 2026
Wayback Weather is a weather channel in a browser and an iPhone app. It's built to need very little about you: there are no analytics, and you can use it fully without an account.
On your device
- Settings (your cities, units, theme, radio, alarm) are saved in your browser's storage or the app, on your device.
- Offline copy. The app keeps its own files and the last weather it showed, so it opens without a connection.
Your location
If you allow it, your browser or phone tells the app where you are, once, to pick your nearest city. Those coordinates go to our server to look the city up and are not stored. Say no and you can type a city instead.
If you make an account
Accounts are optional and only sync your settings between devices. Our host, Wix, runs sign-in and stores your email address, your password (Wix keeps it, we never see it), and your settings. Only you can read your settings. When a check is needed at sign-up, Google reCAPTCHA runs on that page, under Google's Privacy Policy and Terms.
What our server sees
- Requests. Like any website, our host Wix receives your IP address and browser details with each request, under Wix's privacy policy.
- Weather, alerts and news. Our server fetches these for your cities from the services credited on the ABOUT page. It sends them a place, never anything about you.
- Sponsored lines in the crawl. We count how many times each one was on screen and how many times it was tapped. Wix stores those counts with an anonymous visitor ID. We don't build a profile of you or sell anything about you.
Other sites you reach from the app
- Radio. When the radio is on, your device plays the station's stream directly from the station, which sees your IP address like any website you visit.
- Links. Headlines and sponsored lines open other websites, which have their own policies.
Your choices
- Clearing the site's data in your browser, or deleting the app, removes everything stored on your device.
- To get a copy of, correct or delete your account and what it holds, write to privacy@wweather.info. We answer within 30 days.
- Wayback Weather isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If what we collect changes (for example, adding an advertising network), this page changes first, with a new date at the top.
